Love Actually's Olivia Olson Looks Back on Her Unforgettable First Kiss With Co-Star Thoma…
‘Tis the season to be jolly and fall deeper in love with Love Actually.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 13 years since the holiday classic first hit the big screen. But as Christmas and Hanukah quickly approach our calendars, we thought it was more than appropriate to check in with one of the movie’s most unforgettable stars.
While sitting down with E! News, Olivia Olson admitted that she never could have imagined how popular the movie would be. The actress also opened up about that famous on-screen kiss with co-star Thomas Sangster.
“It was my first kiss and on-screen kiss too,” she shared with E! News’ Carissa Culiner. “I was really nervous because I kind of had a crush on Thomas back in the day and I was also worried because I was taller than him.”
Spoiler alert: Everybody loved the magical moment.

“It’s so great that the first movie I was ever in became this holiday classic,” she continued. “It’s really exciting that people are still talking about it.”
One memory that resonates with the actress to this day is a lesson Emma Thompson shared with the youngest cast members. When it comes to crying on camera, you have to get in the zone.
“She just said, ‘I put myself in my character’s situation. I don’t think of anything sad. I just think how would I feel if my husband was cheating on me,'” Olivia recalled. “And all of us kids in the movie were sitting right at her toes while they were filming that scene and we were just in awe of how amazing her and Alan Rickman are.”
While the kiss was exciting for many viewers, others won’t soon forget her solo performance of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” As it turns out, Olivia is back in the music studio working on a new project that she can’t wait for fans to hear.
“It’s very jazz, blues, pop, even hip-hop inspired a little bit,” she teased to E! News. “It’s sexy, it’s funny. I’m really proud of what we have recorded so far.”
