Meryl Streep was honored in yet another award function. But this time there was no red carpet to walk neither there was any presence of her fellow co-actors. The Oscar winning actress was awarded with the Medal of Distinction at the graduation ceremony of Barnard College, which is a women’s university in New York. The actress was also the ceremonial speaker for the function.

She shared with the new 600 graduates her life experiences till now and urged all of them to keep working. The actress gave much importance in her speech for the achievements made by women and told the graduates to give more and more to bring changes into this world.

Another inspirational woman who took centre stage along with the actress was the First Lady, Michele Obama. She was named Honorary Doctor of Public Service. Michele had earlier given a promise to the university students that she would address their graduation ceremony if they complete 100,000 hours of community service.

The students were highly motivated and determined to bring Michele to their campus that they achieved the goal and even surpassed it by more than 60,000 hours.
