M’Gann’s ex-husband swings by to visit ‘Supergirl’
Running into your ex-husband can be awkward, but it’s even more so when he’s been sent on an inter-planetary mission to kill you and all of your friends.
This isn’t the first time M’Gann (Sharon Leal) has been locked inside the DEO, but Monday’s (Feb. 6) episode is certainly the first time she’s been locked inside with another shape-shifting White Martian, who’s thirsty for blood. Luckily, the DEO agents trapped inside with them have got two Green Martians and a Kryptonian on their side.

Thus ensues a deadly game of “one of these things is not like the other.”
Thanks to Jean’s (David Harewood) old hand-to-the-fire trick, it’s not long before they figure out that Winn (Jeremy Jordan) of all people has been replaced by the White Martian, and the fight that ensues kind of has us wishing for an Evil Winn arc. Mostly because Jeremy Jordan can pull off the sinister smirk and biting insults really, really well.
Come to think of it, Alex (Chyler Leigh) pulls of evil pretty well too when it’s revealed that not one, but two White Martians have made their way into the DEO. Sadly, that means Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) touching heart-to-heart she had with her sister was technically with a mind-reading White Martian. Figures.
Jean’s admission of love to M’Gann though? Totally real and totally cute.
After all these years, he’s finally learned to love again, and of all the people in the world he’s chosen to care for, it just so happens to be a White Martian. Such is life on a planet full of alien refugees.
Sadly, Jean’s admission of love only proves to M’Gann that her race is capable of love and compassion, and it’s time for her to go back home and search out other defectors on Mars. Such a swift end to a sweet romance.

Kara and Mon-El’s (Chris Wood) romance, on the other hand, seems to be just getting started. With some careful prodding from Alex, Kara works up the courage to face her fear of rejection and tell Mon-El that she does have feelings for him… only to be knocked down yet again when she realizes he’s moved on. Poor Kara can’t seem to make a romance work out for the life of her.
In the grand scheme of things, it’s probably a good idea to tease this romance out a little longer. Mon-El only arrived a few months ago, and rushing this couple together would bode poorly for any future they might have. The slow burn is definitely the way to go here. Add in the mysterious aliens hunting him down and the theory that he might actually be the Prince of Daxam, and you’ve got a pretty awesome recipe for an angsty romance full of awkward, adorkable moments.
“Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
