The Bombay High Court Monday reserved till Feb 7 its order on the appeal filed by Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Kasab against the death sentence awarded to him for his role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

“The arguments undertaken by lawyers of (other accused) Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed concluded today (Monday), following which the court reserved its order till Feb 7,” said Kasab’s lawyer Farhana Shah.

Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice R.V. More also reserved its order on an appeal filed by the Maharashtra government challenging the acquittal of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives Ansari and Ahmed, who were charged with providing maps of targets spots to terrorists involved in the carnage.

Special Public Prosecutor Ujjawal Nikam said that both Ansari and Ahmed were Indian citizens, but Ansari got a Pakistani passport on the basis of fake documents. He said the trial court erred in acquitting them.
