New Grey's Anatomy Season 13 Premiere Sneak Peek Has Us Really Worried About Alex
Alex, you in danger, boy.
Look, we know that Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) did a very bad thing in the final moments of the Grey’s Anatomy season 12 finale when he beat DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) to a bloody pulp, but that doesn’t mean we’re not still concerned about the future of Grey Sloan Memorial’s resident bad boy. And this new sneak peek at the highly-anticipated season premiere is doing nothing to ease our fears.
In the clip, we see Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) advise her bestie that maybe he ought to speak to the police (a far cry from the first promo that hinted at her involvement in a cover-up), but the hot-headed doc seems more interested in getting to his victim before the police do and convincing him not to press charges. Provided DeLuca survives.
A run-in with Ben (Jason George) will certainly do Alex no favors in the cover-up department, what with his shifty responses to Ben’s questions and those very obvious bruised knuckles. Slipping in the rain? Alex, you’re going to have to come up with a better excuse that that.
While we’re over here freaking out about the very real possibility of Alex going to jail, there’s also the little matter of DeLuca and his injuries. In the clip, Mer rules out the possibility of a brain injury, but that doesn’t mean the poor guy is out of the woods. When E! News caught up with Grey’s EP and recurring guest star Debbie Allen, we asked if we ought to be worried about him.
“Yeah,” she warned emphatically. “I directed that last episode last year. He was in trouble. I can just let you know that we pick up where we left off, so it’s going to be a hot opening.”
“This season is really hot. I mean, we’re in season 13, but we’re like a brand new show. The storylines are more dynamic and exciting than ever,” she added. “That opening episode, which starts next Thursday night, it’s something that’ll knock your socks off, take your breath away, and make you want to keep watching.”
Our nerves can only take so much. Is it Thursday yet?
Grey’s Anatomy returns Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
