RATINGS, RENEWALS, AND REALITY NEWS
… Fox paired fresh comedy New Girl with Glee‘s Season 3 premiere in hopes that it could retain some of Glee‘s massive audience, but then a funny thing happened: New Girl performed better in the ratings than Glee. Oops! The high school musical’s return drew 9.2 million viewers and a 4.0 rating among adults. New Girl‘s debut boasted 10.3 million and an impressive 4.8. OMG guys, Glee is probably, like, so jealous. [TV By the Numbers]
… One show that didn’t drop off in the ratings is the reliable NCIS, which notched almost 20 million viewers and a 4.3 rating. Can’t say the same for Dancing With the Stars, which drew almost 15 million viewers at its peak last night—that’s down about 4 million viewers from last year and lower by a third on the ratings side (2.8). … I know what you’ve been saying: “Why doesn’t Gordon Ramsay have FOUR shows on American television?” Well shut your dang mouth, because now he does! Fox has ordered the series Hotel Hell, which takes celeb chef and professional curser Ramsay out of the kitchen and into, well, hotels. The makeover show will see Ramsay and a team of people he yells at traveling this great country of ours fix up struggling hotels. His talent isn’t cooking, it’s telling people what they’re doing wrong. [Fox via press release]
… MTV’s Teen Wolf may transform its second season into a beast. Rumor has it that MTV is planning to double the number of episodes from 12 to 24, which, if my math is right, is five times the original order. [Deadline Hollywood]
… Disney XD, not to be confused with Disney 😀 or Disney <|:-B, has renewed Kickin’ It for a second season. I’m going to take a wild guess that it’s a show about soccer, kung fu, or you know, just chillaxin’ dude. [Deadline Hollywood]
CASTING NEWS
… The always great CCH Pounder (The Shield) is joining ABC’s new drama Revenge for several episodes. She’ll play a warden at a juvenile detention center. [TV Line]
… Victor Garber (Alias) will be the new voice of Charlie, the unseen boss of ABC’s Charlie’s Angels. He replaces Robert Wagner. [USA Today]
NEWS THAT’S SO STUPID IT MUST BE TRUE
… You’ve heard about 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchinson (Lost‘s Horace Goodspeed) and his 17-year-old blonde bride Courtney Stodden, right? She’s basically a piece of overdeveloped, model-esque reality-trash in-the-making and he’s, well, 51. Well, they now have a reality program in the works. Yeah, I threw up in my mouth too. But at least I ate hot dogs for lunch, so it wasn’t THAT bad. [E! Online]
… A crew member at ABC’s Charlie’s Angels has been fired for slapping Minka Kelly’s butt while holding a $ 100 bill. When asked for comment, the man said, “Okay with me. That show was getting canceled in a week anyway, and I got to touch Minka Kelly’s butt.” Touché, guy who slapped Minka Kelly’s butt. Touché. [TMZ]
