Nick Cannon has nothing but love for ex Mariah Carey. 

The America’s Got Talent host and pop sensation have long taken the high road when it comes to putting their twin children, Monroe and Moroccan, ahead of any potential relationship drama. So when Mariah recently appeared on the cover of Complex and the topic of her 2014 split from Nick came up, she admitted, “I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced.”

The chart-topper continued, “But life happens and it was supposed to happen. It’s fine. For [my children], I wish it hadn’t happened that way.” 

As it turns out, Nick feels the same exact way. When asked how the star reacted to her latest interview, Cannon told E! News on Tuesday, “I think we have the same sentiments when it comes to that. We’re working it out and it’s the best it possibly could be.”

And while Carey has since moved on to an engagement with Aussie business mogul James Packer, Cannon has also gladly placed himself back on the market. 

Earlier this month, a source told E! News Cannon and TLC songstress Chilli “have been hanging out romantically.” “Chilli is a very mature woman that’s been around the music industry for sometime and gets it,” the source added. “Nick has always had a crush on her growing up. He thinks she is beautiful.”

As for those relationship rumors, Nick had this to say: “[Chilli] is a wonderful and amazing person. I’m always going to be blushing, giggling when you talk about someone like that because her heart is so pure.”

“Every time I’m next to somebody apparently that’s my new fling,” he continued to joke. “I have the utmost respect for her and her beautiful spirit.”
