Norma makes for a harsh cellmate in our ‘Bates Motel’ sneak preview
If Norman thought confessing his sins over the phone was going to finally free him from Mother (Vera Farmiga)… She clearly didn’t get the message.
In a revealing struggle in front of Dylan (Max Thieriot) in “Inseparable” (April 3), Norman fought hard to hold onto his senses and not stab his half-brother; he then made a distressed 9-1-1 call and confessed to the murder of Sam Loomis (Austin Nichols). In this preview of Episode 8, “The Body” (Apr. 10), we see Norman’s going to be dealing with the repercussions — and not just from Mother.

Aside from Norma, Norman must now contend with Sheriff Greene (Brooke Smith), who just had all her suspicions confirmed, as well as Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), who has finally made it back to the Bates Motel and has a score to settle.
But maybe not all is lost — the clip shows Dylan actually defending his poor brother, claiming to an as-yet-unknown subject that Norman isn’t a bad person or a criminal, he’s just crazy. Will Dylan’s plea put Norman in a psych ward, instead of prison? As the series begins its wind down to the finale, it’s been unclear which direction it will take to wrap things up. Will it follow suit with “Psycho” and send Norman to an institution, or will he somehow wiggle out of this predicament and get to spend his days behind the desk of the motel?
If the preview makes anything clear, it’s that Norma isn’t ready to give up her boy without a fight — and no matter how many bodies they find, the Bates are sticking together to the end. So… How will Norma get her darling little boy out of this pickle?
“Bates Motel” airs Monday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
