‘Parks and Recreation’ Season 5: Adam Scott on Leslie and Ben’s relationship — can it withstand Washington?

In the “Parks and Recreation” Season 4 finale, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is on her way to her new seat on the Pawnee City Council and her boyfriend, Ben (Adam Scott), is on his way to a new job in Washington, D.C. But as it turns out, he won’t be the only one missing his significant other back in Indiana — April (Aubrey Plaza) will be right there with him.

“I live in DC now with April, Aubrey’s character. We’re working on a congressional campaign there,” Scott tells Zap2it. “So it’s kind of the strains of long distance relationships both with me and Aubrey’s characters with our people back in Pawnee. For my character, it’s a big deal because I’m in the major leagues as far as politics goes. And Leslie coming to visit and feeling a little bit like a country mouse puts a little bit of strain on the relationship.”

We already know that Ben and April will be mixing it up with onscreen with U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer, John McCain and Olympia Snowe when they filmed in the nation’s capital for a few days earlier this summer, but can fans expect any other politicos to make a special appearance on this season of “Parks and Rec”?

“I don’t know,” Scott says in a sing-song voice that means he totally does know. “We shall see.”

Speaking of things Scott doesn’t know, how long can we expect Ben and April to be in Washington?

“I don’t even know. It might be all season,” he says. “We’ve only shot two, three episodes. But I don’t know how long I’ll be there. But it’s cool. They have this great, beautiful new set with these fancy offices in D.C.”

What are you excited for in Season 5 of “Parks and Recreation”?
