Who wants to go down Memory Lane with Ricky Martin?
Hip-shaking pop star Ricky Martin will share his thoughts on tasting music superstardom, being a dad to his twin sons, and his journey to accepting himself as a “proud homosexual man.”
Ricky, a former child star, rose to prominence in the late ’90s with a string of platinum-selling dance anthems, most notably the Grammy Award-winning single “Livin’ La Vida Loca.”
In a lengthy message to fans uploaded to his blog last March, the former Menudo boy bander ended decades of dodging questions about his sexuality by confessing that he is — in fact — gay.
Last week, the “She Bangs” hitmaker proudly Tweeted: “I’m happy to announce that my book titled “ME” will be released and available everywhere on November 2nd…After working for more than a year on my book, I can finally say it’s finished!”
He later added: “From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And this is something worth celebrating.”
Martin’s eagerly-anticipated memoir will published simultaneously in Spanish and English by Celebra, a Hispanic-focused division of the Penguin imprint. In related news, Ricky has been cast as Che in the first new Broadway production of Evita in over 30 years, launching at the Nederlander Theater in New York City in the Spring of 2012.
