The nominees are in for the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, The Beastie Boys, and Neil Diamond are among the music lumanaries who have landed hat tips to be inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland next year.
The stars join fellow first-time nominees Dr. John and Donovan, while the Queen of Disco Donna Summer, Tom Waits, ’80s hip-hop pioneer LL Cool J are taking a second crack at the chance to recognized as music royalty with the industry’s highest honor. Also in the running for commendation are Chic, Geils Band, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis.
In order to be eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1985.
The Hall of Fame will unveil its 2011 honorees in December. The induction ceremony will take place in New York City in March.
