Sean Connery has graced the silver screen for the final time. The Scottish-born Oscar-winner has announced his retirement from professional acting mere months after he was formally charged with tax evasion in Britain. Connery — who celebrates his 80th birthday today — does not believe he will ever act again because his days in business ”are over.’”
“I don’t think I’ll ever act again. I have so many wonderful memories but these days are over,” the former James Bond star revealed to Scotland’s Daily Record on Wednesday.
Connery is perhaps best remembered for playing iconic British spy James Bond in seven installments of the 007 franchise between 1962 and 1982. Looking back, Connery admits his favorite Bond feature was the second in the series –From Russia with Love. However, top honors for his favorite movie role of all time would have to be Professor Henry Jones Senior in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
“I was working with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. The teamwork was special. It was a great adventure and Harrison Ford and Denholm Elliot were wonderful actors. I had so much fun.”
