Seattle Seahawks' Richard Sherman Dressed as Harry Potter for a Press Conference and Won H…
Should Seattle Seahawks player Richard Sherman decide to retire from football, he could give Quidditch a try.
The star football player showed up to a Seahawks press conference Wednesday dressed as Harry Potter complete with Gryffindor robes and glasses. Sherman, clearly proving that he’s a wizard in a world full of Muggles, walked in as “Hedwig’s Theme” played on the speakers.
“You got to bring your own music,” Sherman told reporters. “This is a serious occasion. It’s Halloween.”
Sherman explained that his 20-month-old son wanted him to dress up for the holiday, and as an avid Harry Potter fan there was no other option.
“This is my first and second [choice],” he added. “When you’re a wizard, like we are out there, sometimes you have to show it to the Muggles out in the world. We got a lot of wizards. My son’s a wizard, [Seahawks player] Earl Thomas does some magical things…I just went to Harry Potter land; it felt like home.”
But Sherman didn’t just walk the walk of Harry Potter. He could talk the talk, too. He talked about Quidditch and whether it would be more exhausting than a football game. He admitted that Order of the Phoenix was his favorite book in the beloved series, so he’s an experienced Potter fan.
As expected, Sherman will be taking his son trick-or-treating, but he’s not worried about being recognized. Clark Kent did it: All you gotta do is put the glasses on,” he said. “Bam. No longer Richard Sherman.”
