Sylvester Stallone has made some terrible movies during his nearly four decades on the silver screen, but if the 64-year-old actor had to select a feature that qualifies as most humiliating, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot would take top honors.
The 1992 action-comedy starred Stallone as a bumbling Los Angeles cop and late Golden Girls star Estelle Getty as his meddling mother. The flick’s developed a massive cult following in the years since its release, but that hasn’t stopped Sly from declaring the feature one of the worst movies in the history of American cinema.
The Expendables star told UK newspaper The Sun this week: “I made some truly awful movies. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was the worst. If you ever want someone to confess to murder just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.”
Critics at the time seemed to agree. Shoot won three Golden Raspberry Awards; for Stallone as Worst Actor, Getty as Worst Supporting Actress, and the writers in the category of Worst Screenplay!
