‘Teen Wolf’: Stiles is gone but not forgotten… kind of
If you were worried about Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) taking an extended trip to wherever the Ghost Riders have taken him, we hope you’re more at ease now that you’ve seen how keenly the rest of the pack feels his absence.
He might be gone, and he’s definitely been forgotten, but parts of him still linger in Beacon Hills, especially where Malia (Shelley Hennig), Lydia (Holland Roden) and Scott (Tyler Posey) are concerned. His dad is another case entirely, but we’ll get to that later.
“Teen Wolf” has pretty brilliantly planned out this Ghost Rider arc in a way that even we can’t figure out how these new villains operate.

For instance, Scott can remember the night he was turned into a werewolf perfectly, but he can’t for the life of him figure out why he was out in the woods alone that night. The answer is, of course, that Stiles dragged him out of the house to look for a reported dead body he heard over his dad’s police radio. The story just doesn’t make sense as Scott now remembers it, without Stiles to drag him along on their latest adventure.
Similarly, Malia finds herself overtaken by her coyote instincts, which have not been a problem for her in months. Now that her anchor (Stiles) is gone, she can’t keep it controlled — and even worse, she’s baffled trying to figure out how she managed to tie herself up all alone.
As for Lydia, do we even need to say more than “What the hell is a Stiles?”
Meanwhile, Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) presents us with a pretty impossible conundrum: Not only does he not seem to feel Stiles’ loss, he’s got a brand new reason to be distracted from the case of his missing son.
Claudia Stilinski (Joey Honsa) is officially alive and well, and we’re officially confused.

How in the world does erasing Stiles from everyone’s memory miraculously bring his mother back to life? Is Sheriff Stilinski just hallucinating her to deal with the trauma of losing his son? Or is Claudia legitimately back somehow? And how can “Teen Wolf” possibly make us choose between keeping Stiles’ mother alive, or seeing the Sheriff live happily ever after with Mama McCall (Melissa Ponzio), like he’s clearly destined to do?
Whatever the case, this final season of “Teen Wolf” feels like a Greatest Hits album of everything we’ve ever loved about the show over the past six years, and we’ve got a feeling we’re going to get seriously weepy as we make our way to the end of Season 6.
“Teen Wolf” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
