‘The Flash’ makes a pit stop at ‘Supergirl’ with mini-crossover
On a day that included quite a bit of news about the upcoming musical crossover between “Supergirl” and “The Flash” — “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” creator Rachel Bloom has written an original song for the episode, which is amazing — chances are you weren’t expecting to see the worlds collide unannounced… Yet that’s exactly what they got in the Jan. 31 episode, “Dead or Alive.”

The installment saw the introduction of Gypsy (Jessica Camacho), a meta with powers similar to Cisco’s (Carlos Valdes) from HR Wells’ (Tom Cavanagh) Earth. She arrives to take HR home, but the team just can’t let that happen. What ensues is a battle between Vibes, as Cisco and Gypsy go at in across various Earths — including one that’s very familiar indeed…
CatCo will never be the same after Vibe and Gypsy did a little aggressive redecorating with their fight. While Kara (Melissa Benoist) and the rest of her team are nowhere to be seen during this change of scenery, you have to applaud the creativity of the show’s writers — making use of familiar sets from other shows for a little wink to fans.

Of course, when we said we wanted more Cisco on “Supergirl” this isn’t exactly what we had in mind — but it’s better than nothing, and offers a nice little tease of what may come in the upcoming musical crossover. While the majority of the episode will take place on “The Flash,” would it be so bad to have the team wind up on Kara’s Earth?
Keep your fingers crossed for more little nods like this, as the “Arrow”-verse continues to grow.
