The Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie Get Full Seasons
H8R must be so embarrassed! The CW has granted full-season orders to Hart of Dixie and The Secret Circle, ensuring that both dramas will stick around for the entire season. Each series will extend its first season to 22 episodes. The announcement came just after word leaked earlier today that Ringer has been picked up for a full season.
None of The CW’s new shows have earned very impressive ratings so far, but there’s an old saying in the industry: “Good enough for The CW!” The most recent episode of The Secret Circle bewitched just under 2 million viewers and grabbed a 0.8 rating. Hart of Dixie didn’t do quite as well, drawing 1.75 million and another 0.8 last week. Ringer registered eerily similar numbers, with 1.72 million viewers and a third 0.8 rating.
The Secret Circle is based on a book series by L.J. Smith (who also wrote the Vampire Diaries novels) and follows a coven of teen witches in Chance Harbor, Washington. Hart of Dixie stars Rachel Bilson as a heart surgeon (for realz) who leaves New York City to take over a medical practice in Alabama.
That makes three dramas picked up for full seasons so far, all of them belonging to The CW. The network has no more decisions to make involving its new fall shows, as it’s already canceled the reality show H8R, and with good reason.
Hart of Dixie was a reasonably popular pick in our TV.com Dead Pool, with 64 picks. You were more confident in The Secret Circle, which only eight of you selected.
