The Truth Behind Angelina Jolie's Custody Plans With Brad Pitt
Though Angelina Jolie is currently seeking full physical custody of her six children amid her divorce from Brad Pitt, she’s hoping that will eventually change.
E! News has learned the 41-year-old actress doesn’t intend for the custody situation to remain permanent. Rather, we’re told she believes it’s what’s necessary right now, and she knows she and Pitt will need to co-parent together in the future for the sake of their children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Viviennne.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles County began conducting an inquiry into allegations that Pitt was involved in an incident with a child aboard a private plane flying from Europe to L.A., NBC News reports.
Earlier, Armand Montiel, DCFS Public Affairs Director, told E! News that the law does not allow the department to confirm or deny subjects of its investigations. The FBI has not launched an investigation at this time, and a spokesperson for the LAPD told E! News police are not investigating allegations of child abuse.
TMZ and People first reported the investigation and said the incident took place Sept. 14—one day before Pitt and Jolie separated.
A source told E! News of the situation, “This comes down to the kind of disagreements that sometimes occur between teenage boys and their father. This is where this situation has spiraled from, and Angelina as a mother can be very protective.”

Reps for the actors have not commented on the reports, but a source close to the investigation tells E! News he “takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children.”
Similarly, another insider noted that Pitt is “is cooperating fully.” The source added, “He will continue to do what’s in the best interest of the children…[He] is most concerned about his children and the best thing for them is to keep the situation private.”
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on September 19, according to court documents obtained by E! News, with news of their split hitting headlines and shocking the world on Tuesday, September 20.
The actress’ manager, Geyer Kosinski, released a statement on her behalf, saying, “Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest of taking care of her family. She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
Brad also broke his silence about the divorce in statement, saying, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
