Thor Has New Hair and Crazy Weapons In Our First Look at Marvel's 'Thor: Ragnarok…
There’s a Wolverine movie in theaters now, a Guardians of the Galaxy movie arriving this May and a Spider-Man movie shortly after that, but this fall fans are itching to see the return of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, in theaters November 3.
Entertainment Weekly has premiered the first look at Thor’s third outing on its new cover. Check it out.

Featured on the cover are Chris Hemsworth’s Thor — sporting a new short haircut and what appear to be two wicked blades instead of his trusty hammer — as well as the villainous Hera (Cate Blanchett) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). While this initial EW story on Thor: Ragnarok doesn’t divulge too many details, it does tell us more about Hulk’s involvement in the film, as well as his big battle with fellow Avenger, Thor.
That Thor vs Hulk battle occurs on the planet Sakaar, which should be familiar to comics fans as a planet well known in the world of the Hulk. Thor finds himself on Sakaar following a battle with Hera, who is accidentally released from a prison that’s been holding her for a millenia.
“[Sakaar is] basically where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers,” Hemsworth told EW. “No one cares what prince or king Thor may have been in another world. Also, his strength is pretty easily matched with those he finds himself amongst.”
Regarding the film’s more comic tone, director Taika Waititi isn’t concerned it’s going to throw longtime Marvel fans off, calling it a “slight shift,” adding, “We want people to care what happens and care that the hero succeeds. I think tonally it’s like a slight shift. I don’t feel nervous — I feel good about it.”
