Timeless Premieres With a Butterfly Effect Twist: Abigail Spencer Reveals What Happens Next for…
Fall TV’s newest trend—big twists!—continued with Timeless. The time travel drama from The Shield‘s Shawn Ryan and Supernatural‘s Eric Kripke sent its characters back in time to stop another time traveler from rewriting history with the Hindenburg disaster (and then back to the present). This is your spoiler warning!
Things changed in the past, changing things in the present, especially for Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer). When viewers met Lucy, her mother was near-death and she alternated taking care of her with her sister. After returning from the past, Lucy discovered her mom was alive and well. And her sister? She never existed.
“[She has] this whole life that she’s lived with her mother that Lucy doesn’t remember, but her mother has a new reality,” Spencer teased. But not everybody returns to a new reality.
“This butterfly effect is only affecting Lucy’s life. And yes, in the second episode she’ll come back to another surprise,” she promised. “Now she’s going to be on a mission…she’s got to get her sister back and figure out how them going back in time is related to her actual personal life.”
Goran Visnjic plays the antagonist, Garcia Flynn, a man bent on rewriting history. Matt Latner, Malcolm Barrett, Sakina Jaffrey and Paterson Joseph also star.
Timeless airs Mondays, 10 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
