Tony Parker — NBA hoopster for the San Antonio Spurs — yearns for an “amicable” end to his three-year union with Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, despite allegations that the athlete carried on a “sexting” relationship with the estranged wife of one of his former teammates.
Longoria was “devastated” after she uncovered “hundreds” of saucy texts that were engaged between Tony and Erin Barry, a local advocate for children and survivors of domestic violence who is in the middle of a messy divorce from former Spur Brent Barry. Brent and Tony were teammates on the Texas team from 2004-2008.
After Eva filed paperwork to dissolve her marriage to Tony in Los Angeles Superior Court last Wednesday, Parker iled his divorce papers in Texas over the weekend. If French-born sportsman’s petition is granted in The Lonestar State, the couple’s marriage could be dissolved in as little as 60 days, whereas if Eva’s wish for the hearing to take place in California is accepted, the divorce could take up to six months to go through. California, a community property state, may also be more favorable to Longoria’s request for spousal support, despite the couple’s rumored prenup.
“This was not meant to escalate things. He filed his own papers to protect his rights during the proceeding…They are still committed to working this out together amicably,” a friend of Parker’s squealed to PEOPLE.com on Sunday.
“He’s been coping by focusing on work. He has been relying on his teammates for support. Everyone at the Spurs has been so supportive of him.”
