TV ratings: ‘Modern Family’ and ABC dominate a rerun-heavy Wednesday
ABC’s comedy-plus-“Revenge” lineup returned with new episodes Wednesday, and since the other networks mostly took the night off, the Alphabet walked away with a decent-sized ratings win. Led by “Modern Family,” ABC won all three hours of primetime in adults 18-49 and two of the three in total viewers.
For the night ABC averaged 9.4 million viewers and a 5.8 rating/9 share in households, beating out CBS’ 8.2 million viewers and 5.3/8. NBC (3.8 million, 2.6/4) came in third. FOX (2.7 million, 1.7/3) took fourth overall, while The CW trailed with a shade over 900,000 viewers and a 0.6/1.
ABC also led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.3 rating, finishing comfortably ahead of second-place CBS’ 2.0. FOX and NBC tied for third at 1.0, and The CW drew a 0.3.
