Violett Beane has high hopes for a Jesse & Wally ‘Flash’ romance
Jesse Wells (Violett Beane) is in the midst of an incredible moment in her life on “The Flash,” learning how to harness her speedster powers and become a superhero in her own right — Jesse Quick. Not everyone is necessarily happy for her, though.
Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) is the person Jesse connected with most on Earth-1, leaving viewers wondering if a romance would blossom between the two. But after revealing that the particle accelerator blast gave her superpowers, something changed in Wally. He wants to be the hero and was even willing to risk his life in front of Jesse to make it happen.
According to Beane, that’s something Wally is going to have to come to terms with if their relationship is ever going to move forward.

“From the beginning they had a connection and I think, you know, they both got hit and Wally’s trying to understand why it’s not happening for him. All Wally wants is to be a speedster, be a hero,” she says. “I think if he can come to terms with his jealousy and be happy for her you might see a little bit of that relationship building between the two of them.”
“I would love for them to move past the whole speed thing and get closer,” she adds.
In the meantime, Jesse has other things to think about besides boy trouble. After all, she’s a superhero now and that’s going to bring its own set of problems. Luckily, she has a guide to help her along the way.

“She’s younger and she just got her speed, so I think you’re going to see a little bit of recklessness. I feel like she’s going to run into situations without thinking about it,” Beane teases. “That’s why it’s great to have Barry there to teach her.”
Hopefully he teaches her that jumping around in time to change things isn’t a great idea.
“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
