Watch the Music Video for "How Far I'll Go" From 'Moana'

Disney’s latest animated feature, Moana, topped the box office for the third weekend in a row, and while it’s not performing quite as well as the studio’s own Zootopia or their Pixar-branded sequel Finding Dory, it does share that threepeat distinction. One thing it does have over the others, however, is a very successful soundtrack filled with original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina.

One of those songs is “How Far I’ll Go,” which has been particularly hot because of its accolades. The tune was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award (but lost to a number from La La Land) and was just recognized this morning as a contender for a Golden Globe. An Oscar nomination is surely right around the corner, as well. For now, Disney has released a music video for the song, though it’s also just the clip of the scene from Moana in which it’s sung by the title character.

In the movie, Moana Waialiki (voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho, who also does the singing) is eager to leave her island and explore the open seas while also returning a stone called “the heart of Te Fiti” to its original location in order to save her world. This scene features her singing about wanting to go and making an effort to leave, but it’s not the moment when she does in fact begin her journey.
