The Believers are Beliebers.

The controversial Kansas-based church that has forged protests against everyone from slain veterans to teenage lesbians is adding pop sensation Justin Bieber to its hit list, Politics Daily dished this week. The gay-hating congregation of Westboro Baptist Church are planning to protest Bieber’s concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Wednesday night.

According to the hate group, the protest is to “remind all of those in attendance that America’s destruction is imminent.”

“There are no jobs, homes, money or hope, but you’ll pay big bucks to attend rock concerts by the thousands,” the church group writes on their website. “Justin Bieber has a platform given to him by God to speak to this world; he has a duty to teach obedience by his actions and words. He refuses to do that because he knows his concert halls would be empty! So, he teaches you to sin and rebel against God’s commandments,” they continued.

Westboro Baptist Church was founded by Fred Phelps, 80, in the 1950s. The church has protested a litany of events — Jewish synagogues, football games, political events, and even Michael Jackson’s funeral. The church have most recently spoke out against pop tart Lady Gaga for her support of gay rights (and also plan to protest her upcoming Aug. 3 show at the Sprint Center) and even the 2010 Comic-Con Convention in San Diego.
