Screen icon Zsa Zsa Gabor, 93, is back home in Malibu after being released from the Los Angeles hospital where she spent three weeks and had most of her right leg amputated.
Gabor — who lost her limb after gangrene set in — was allowed to return to her Los Angeles estate on Friday for the first time since being admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Jan. 2, according to the actress’ longtime spokesperson John Blanchette. Despite feverish efforts by doctors, three-quarters of Gabor’s leg was removed Jan. 14 to treat a blood clot and ward off further infection.
The actress has been in and out of the hospital since last July when she fell out of bed at her Beverly Hills home, suffering an injury that required a hip replacement.
Zsa Zsa will receive round-the-clock care by a team of nurse and her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt, but has taken news of the amputation “well,” Blanchette says.
“She has been feisty, yelling at nurses and at him. Everything is back to normal.”
Last week, Von Anhalt put the couple’s historic estate on the market. The home, once owned by rock king Elvis Presley, is now for sale for $28 million. Frederic and Zsa Zsa plan to downsize to condo after unloading the property.
