New dad Javier Bardem, who just last week picked up a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in Biutiful, has been offered a part opposite Daniel Craig im the next 007 film, Deadline reported on Monday.
The Academy Award-winning No Country For Old Men star has been approached to appear in the 23rd Bond movie, which is due to begin filming later this year, according to reports. Craig and co-star Judi Dentch will reprise their roles as the famous British spy James Bond and his boss M in Bond 23, the next highly-anticipated installment of the spy franchise, directed by Sam Mendes. Bond producers offered Bardem the part last week – at the same time he received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for Biutiful. There are no details as to what the role is, but it’s a safe bet that the Spanish actor will be coming on board as Bond’s latest villain.
Bardem welcomed his first child — a son — with wife Penelope Cruz last week.
The still-untitled James Bond feature will hit cinemas in Nov. 2012.
