Paula Abdul is back to lay down the law on Lifetime’s Sunday night comedy, Drop Dead Diva.

The former American Idol judge/singer/dancer-choreographer made a guest appearance as “Your Honor Judge Paula Abdul” during the show’s first season and opened it’s second with a side-splitting monologue alongside series protagonist Natasha Henstridge. Now Abdul will tackle a new role on the comedy’s second season finale, scheduled to air next month.

“For the finale, we have a new twist for her character. She’s playing a wedding planner who walks a major character down the aisle — whispering Paula-esque words of wisdom into the bride’s ear as they approach the altar,” Diva creator Josh Berman tells PEOPLE.

Abdul will tape her appearance on Diva’s two-hour finale — entitled “Freeze the Day” — in Atlanta this Friday, July 9.

The second season finale of Drop Dead Diva airs Sunday, Aug. 29 (9 PM EST) on Lifetime.
