Producer Martin Shafer announced today that Hugh Grant will star in writer/director Marc Lawrence’s new untitled romantic comedy, shooting in New York in April 2013. Shafer will produce with Liz Glotzer for Castle Rock Entertainment. No distribution deals have been set.
This marks the fourth collaboration between Grant, Lawrence and Castle Rock Entertainment (Two Weeks Notice

Hugh Grant has played the caddish romantic leading man in seemingly dozens of British comedies from Four Weddings and a Funeral to Bridget Jones’s Diary. Now, in a rather welcome change of pace, he’s slipping on his pirate hat and cutlass to set out for the high seas of adventure in The Pirates! Band of Misfits.

Sometimes, even pirates get picked on by others. Case in point: Pirate Captain (voiced by Hugh Grant), who has aspirations to become the Pirate of the Year, but gets laughed at by the dastardly Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven).
