“That ’70s Show’s” Laura Prepon As Chelsea Handler In NBC Pilot

Laura Prepon — who played Donna Pinciotti for more than seven season on FOX’s That ’70s Show — has been cast as a character inspired by Chelsea Handler in an NBC comedy pilot loosely based on the comedienne’s life.

The NBC project — titled Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea — based on the best-selling autobiography penned by Handler will star Prepon as Chelsea Hanson, an opinionated cocktail waitress with unique views on sex and alcohol. Prepon’s recent portfolio includes guest roles on House, How I Met Your Mother, and Castle, as well as a lead role on the shortlived ABC drama October Road.

E!’s First Lady of Late-Night is on board to executive produce the show alongside Dharma & Greg co-creator Dottie Dartland Zicklin and Julie Larson.

Vodka is in contention for a spot on NBC’s Fall 2011 lineup.
