Oprah — whose joint venture with Discovery launches with the creation of The Oprah Winfrey Network early next year — has landed the first television interview with the three hostages held at gunpoint inside Discovery Channel headquarters in Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland two weeks ago.
The hostages — two Discovery employees and a security — are set to appear on the newly-minted 25th season of The Oprah Winfrey Show Thursday, Harpo Productions said this morning. The trio were taken hostage by James Lee, a troubled, militant, who entered the suburban Washington building on Sept. 1 wielding a firearma nd stripped with metal canisters he claimed contained explosives.
Lee was killed by police following four hours of negotiations.
