Jason Schwartzman is about to bring some indie spirit to Pawnee: The actor/musician (Bored to Death, Rushmore) will guest-star in an upcoming episode of Parks and Recreation, NBC has confirmed. (The Huffington Post first reported the news.) Schwartman plays Dennis Lerpiss, the owner of the town’s only independent-movie video store who joins forces with Leslie (Amy Poehler) to try to get his slumping business classified as a historical landmark.
The episode is slated to air later in the season. Vice President Joe Biden, Senators John McCain, Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe, former Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, Christie Brinkley, and Lucy Lawless are among the other guest stars in season 5.
Schwartzman also stars in Roman Coppola’s big-screen comedy/drama A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III with Parks regular Aubrey Plaza.
