A day at the beach could end with a misdemenor battery charge for American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.
The flamboyant singer is accused of violently attacking a paparazzo following him on Miami Beach Thursday, and could face a misdemeanor battery charge for the melee. Although we think Adam’s true crime in this case is one against fashion. Will you get a load of that hat?!
“Eeew paparazzi killed my peaceful afternoon on the beach!” the glam rocker Tweeted on Thursday. “They’re real good at provoking, but there ain’t any pics or video of the b.s. they spew out… Haha well… I lost my temper for a sec but wow it felt great lol MIAMI!!!”
The alleged victim was taking photos of Lambert from 20 feet away when the singer — clad in board shorts, a tank top and a big straw hat — snapped.
According to a police report, the photographer involved in the incident is accusing the singer of misdemeanor battery. The report states that Adam, “became angry and started running towards” the photographer “in an aggressive manner” after the snapper began taking pictures of the singer. Adam them “wrestled the victim to the ground forcefully.”
The photographer did not sustain any bruises or lacerations during the incident, but the “For Your Entertainment” hitmaker was so livid, he had to be dragged away by a friend.
“Battery? Nope. I attempted to grab a camera, no punches were thrown and no one was on the ground…. It was literally harmless. If embarrassment is a crime- thats all I’m guilty of,” Lambert told fans on Friday.
After photographs of the incident surfaced online, the glam rocker jokingly Tweeted an apology for his beach attire.
“Hahha the photos are hilarious !! Lol please everyone forgive me for that hat. – I was attempting a disguise- clearly failed. Hahah.”
Florida authorities are currently deciding if the case will be turned over to the State’s Attorney Office, who would decide whether or not to prosecute Lambert. If convicted, the 28-year old singer could be sentenced to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
