A day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched his blog in English, many followers on his site have requested him to write in Hindi as well.
“I request Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to write his blog in Hindi for common people to understand,” Narain Prasad said in his posting on Nitish Kumar’s blog.
Nitish Speaks – has seen 331 comments being posted within a day.
Comments have come from a range of people, from a villager in Bihar to NRIs in the US and Britain. About a dozen followers of his blog have asked him to write in Hindi.
In Patna, several people agreed with the idea that the chief minister should write in Hindi.
“Nitish Kumar should write his blog in Hindi to reach out to common people,” Anant, a resident of Kurthol near Patna, told IANS.
Nitish Kumar in his first post chose to write on his bicycle scheme for schoolgirls.
“Among several welfare initiatives taken by our government over the past four years, the ‘Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojna’ is very close to my heart. It has changed the face of Bihar with lakhs of schoolgirls riding bicycles to their schools every day,” he said.
Nitish Kumar said that before the launch of the project three years ago, it was rare to find a schoolgirl riding a bicycle even on the streets of Patna.
“But now, you can watch scores of schoolgirls pedalling away with gusto everywhere – from the narrow lanes of a remote village to the bustling roads of the cities across the state.”
Under the scheme, girls get a cheque of Rs.2,000 on passing Class VIII to buy a bicycle.
“It would be no exaggeration to say that the scheme has been an unqualified success. It has given me a lot of satisfaction since it has helped check the dropout rate of girls to a great extent,” the chief minister said.
