‘Moneyball’ is about more than just baseball, and so was the Tokyo press conference for the Oscar-buzzed film where Brad Pitt gave his thoughts on the ongoing Occupy Wall Street movement: “I think what you’re seeing in America is questioning a system that has not served us very well. A system that is defined for corporate lobbyists instead of the best needs for the people and people are feeling screwed a little bit there.” He went on to add that it’s important not just to protest, but to find a solution. That’s when the video cuts off, just before Pitt utters the phrase that would (presumably) solve our economic woes, political headaches and cure world hunger. Alas!
As Pitt says in the video below, “The most important thing is really, not just getting swept up in the fervor of a fight… but really understanding the details, really understanding the systemic problems, and you can’t stop there, really looking for solutions. And if you’re going to say one guy’s bad, you’ve got to back it up with this is how we fix it. And I think that’s an important follow-up that we often miss.”
You heard the man. Now go get busy and look for some solutions, will ya?
