… Fox’s Breaking In just won’t die. Almost two months after being mostly canceled and practically dead, there are signs of life (sort of) for the short-lived comedy that debuted in April. Fox and Sony Pictures TV have picked up the options on the cast’s contracts, keeping the door open for the show to return despite being almost absolutely left off Fox’s 2011-2012 schedule. There you have it, fans—a certain, almost-absolute guarantee that Breaking In is definitely not kind of totally canceled and could for sure be given a second chance. [Deadline Hollywood]
… Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is bringing back two of its hottie ADAs next season after a flurry of major casting overhauls left some jobs in doubt. Stephanie March and Diane Neal, who play Alexandra Cabot and Casey Novak, respectively, will return for multiple episodes in the upcoming 13th season. Star Chris Meloni left the series completely in the off-season, and perennial Emmy nominee Mariska Hargitay is taking on a smaller role this season. Last week, NBC announced that Meloni and Hargitay will be replaced by Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino. [THR]
… Adrianne Palicki, last seen huffing and puffing while running through Hollywood in an atrocious Wonder Woman costume for NBC, has made another questionable career decision. Palicki showed tons of promise as Tyra on Friday Night Lights but will next be seen in the undoubtedly groan-worthy explosion flick G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes, where she’ll play Lady Jaye. Why is she so hellbent on destroying her future? [CNN]
… Meanwhile, Palicki’s Wonder Woman co-star has also found a new paying job. Elizabeth Hurley is taking on a recurring role on the next season of Gossip Girl; she’ll play Diana Payne, a media mogul who complicates the lives of everyone’s favorite Upper East Side bitches. [TV Line]
… The Situation, Snooki, and the rest of Jersey Shore‘s oxygen-wasters might be looking for a new roommate soon. Rumor has it that Vinny and his dancing eyebrows left the house for good in the middle of shooting Season 5, after weeks of realizing that he was a part of the worst thing ever created. [TMZ]
… Thinking about showing off your skills on Simon Cowell’s new talent show The X Factor? Well you might have to suffer through hanging out with Mariah Carey, who might become a season-long mentor for the reality competition show. Among the things she’ll mentor contestants in: talking endlessly about being pregnant, gaining weight and losing weight at inhuman speeds, and cradle-robbing. [EW]
… There have been some major shakeups with NBC’s Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, but unfortunately one of them isn’t an early cancellation. The upcoming freshman sitcom has axed three of its cast members—Natalie Morales, Angel Laketa Moore, and Jo Koy—citing creative reasons. Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea stars Laura Prepon and is based on Chelsea Handler’s autobiography of the same name. [TV Line]
… Good news, tennis fans! Or, tennis fan! ESPN has obtained the sole rights to broadcast Wimbledon. The sports network outbid NBC, which had held the tournament’s rights for 43 years. What this means: No more f***ing g**damn tape delay. [NY Times]
