Celine’s heart will go on at the Academy Awards later this month as the French-Canadian songbird uses her signature power pipes to sing as part of the ceremony’s annual tribute to the stars who have passed away over the past year.
Dion — who welcome twin boys last year — will sing “Smile” during the In Memoriam segment, E! News said this week. Dion already holds the record for the most vocal performances at the Academy Awards and this year’s event will be her sixth. She last performed at the 2006 Oscars, singing “I Knew I Loved You” as part of a salute to composer Ennio Morricone.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Randy Newman, Mandy Moore and Florence Welch have already been booked to perform the number nominated under the Best Songs bill at this year’s ceremony, which will air live on ABC Feb. 27.
