“The 100” Season 4 premiered with even more death and danger, which is not all that surprising. If you’re not fighting for your life on the Ground, what the heck are you doing?
What did surprise us, however, was Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Clarke’s (Eliza Taylor) decision to keep the impending nuclear apocalypse a secret. After subjecting the human race (Grounders and Sky People alike) to A.L.I.E. and her chips, they make the understandable but still terrible decision not to tell people that the world is ending in a few months.
We can almost understand the sentiment behind letting people recover before dropping another bomb on them (no pun intended), but as the old nursery rhyme goes, Secrets, secrets are no fun, unless you are a part of one. Bellamy and Clarke better let more than just their immediate circle in on the fun, or they will no doubt learn the hard way that secrets breed paranoia and distrust.

Nothing hinders a mission to survive deadly radiation like an entire city full of people who don’t trust their leadership.
One person we’re SUPER glad was let in on the secret is Jasper (Devon Bostick).
Executive producer Jason Rothenberg revealed after the Season 3 finale that the original version of the episode had Jasper commit suicide after being released from the City of Light, but the scene was dropped from the final version. Jasper nearly followed through on that tragic plot line in the Season 4 premiere, until he heard the news that he was already going to be dead inside six months anyways.
Raven’s mentality on leaving the City of Light may be that there’s “nothing like a little pain to remind you you’re alive,” but Jasper’s is apparently that there’s nothing like a ticking clock to remind you to live your life to the fullest.
Besides the fact that someone should tell Jasper how totally not fun dying a slow, sickening death from radiation poisoning is, we’re not sure how we feel about this particular turn of events. Losing Jasper would be devastating (both for fans and for the show), but hopefully it won’t come to that. If Jasper can just learn to really live and enjoy himself, we’re hoping that little bit of joy can kickstart his will to survive. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen carefree and chipper Jasper, and we kind of want him back.
In other news, we kind of have to laugh remembering that old theory that Bellamy and Echo (Tasya Teles) would be a romantic pairing on “The 100.” We totally get where it came from, considering Season 2 ended with him rescuing her from Mount Weather after they were imprisoned together, but now it couldn’t be clearer that Bellamy would rather rip her head off than pucker up.

Oddly enough, their dynamic is still completely fascinating even after all the bad blood and betrayal between them. We’d honestly be cool watching them glare at each other for the entire hour, considering how loaded all their scenes seem to be.
Unfortunately, it seems like Bellamy and Clarke are headed back to Arkadia to face this new threat, while Abby (Paige Turco) and Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) stick around to keep the peace in Polis and fall desperately, madly in love with each other.
One person who will be seeing more of Echo is King Roan. Now that his life is no longer in immediate danger, he’s got to figure out how to rule not just the Ice Nation but the 13 tribes of Grounders who are Commander-less at the moment. Where is Luna (Nadia Hilker) when you need her?
