Denise Borino-Quinn, “The Sopranos’” Ginny Sacramoni, Dies Of Liver Cancer

Denise Borino-Quinn, the actress who played Ginny Sacramoni — the robust wife of Mafia King Johnny Sacramoni for seven seasons on the critically-acclaimed HBO drama The Sopranos, died on Wednesday after a long battle againt liver cancer.

She was 46.

Borino-Quinn had no acting experience — or intention of becoming a professional screen star — when she answered a casting call for the mob hit in 2000. Denise was working as a legal secretary and part-time in manicurist in Roseland, New Jersey when Sopranos casting directors fell in love with her look and handpicked her out of approximately 14,000 actresses, who showed up for the audition.

After The Sopranos left the air in 2007, Denise lost 175 pounds with the help of gastric bypass surgery. Ironically, she was never a stranger to longtime fans.

“My voice gives it away,” Borino-Quinn once said. “When me and my husband are at Chickie’s and Pete’s in Jersey or South Philly, people will hear me talking and say, ‘Do I know you from somewhere? Oh, my God, you’re Ginny Sack!”

Denise Borino-Quinn is survived by her two younger brothers, Vincent Borino and Chris Borino. She was preceded in eternal rest by her husband of five years, Luke Quinn. He passed away in March.
