‘Doctor Who’: Eighth Doctor revisited – What did you think of the TV movie?

As the “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary rolls on, BBC America is looking back on the past Doctors. Their latest is extra special, taking a look at the eighth, who was only seen on-screen in a 1996 made-for-TV movie, which aired in the United States on FOX. It was originally meant to act as a backdoor pilot, but that plan was scrapped after the ratings were low.
Paul McGann plays the Doctor, the last version to show up before the BBC rebooted the series with Christopher Eccleston in the role. There’s a lot that stands out about the movie, especially the fact that it’s the first time the Doctor gets romantically involved with his companion. Of course, that wasn’t necessarily the last time it happened.

The movie is also notable for some of the cast members, including Eric Roberts and Will Sasso. Sasso, 20 years old at the time, shows up even before he debuted on “MADtv.”

Now that you’ve seen this version of “Doctor Who,” what did you think? Is it a worthy entry in the show’s long history, or better off forgotten? Let us know in the poll below:
