Move over, Naomi. Take a backseat, Mariah: There’s a new Melrose Place Superbitch well on her way to terrorizing Hollywood.

Her name is Gabourey Sidibe.

Last fall, Sidibe went from Harlem college student to Oscar darling after her award-winning performance as Precious Jones — a horribly-abused and morbidly-obese teen mother — in the critically-acclaimed 2009 drama Precious.

But it seems overnight success may be going to the head of the rising star. Big Girl’s got a big attitude, if a new report from The Washington Post (Spotted@) is to be believed. According to Post columnist Jonathan Capehart — who made the mistake of approaching Sidibe at last weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington — the only thing larger than Gabby’s waistline is her ego.

Capehart writes: “I was thrilled to spot her at a table laughing uproariously with the man sitting to her right. ‘I know you’re having a good time and I’m sorry to interrupt,’ I began. My next sentence didn’t come out because Sidibe shouted over the din, ‘Yeah, come back in five minutes!’ Thinking she was joking, I laughed and pretended to walk away. When I noticed that the look in her eyes meant she was serious, I walked back to her and said, ‘I just wanted to congratulate you on your nomination. I thought your performance was spectacular. I even wrote a column about it.’ After wishing her good luck, I rejoined my friends.”

(Sidebar: In all fairness, what kind of reaction are you expecting when you interrupt a fat chick who’s right in the middle of eating?)

Apparently Capehart wasn’t the only journalist who found himself harshly rebuffed by Sidibe, who also flipped “The Bitch Switch” on after being pestered by some paps at Washington’s Reagan National Airport this week: “At the MSNBC after party, the partner of a Countdown with Keith Olbermann producer said to me, ‘Look! There’s Gabby Sidibe. I’m going to ask her to take a picture with me.’ I warned him, ‘She’s mean.’ To which he said, ‘I don’t care. I just want a picture.’ I didn’t see what went down, but the dejected fan came back and said incredulously, ‘She said no.’”

I, for one, am shocked. I honestly thought Gabby was a genuinely nice young woman. Say it ain’t say, girl! The good news is she’s young enough in her celebrity to learn from her mistakes and start making some attitude adjustments. Otherwise her star will flicker out as quickly as it rose.
