“[To] the kids that our show celebrates, who are constantly told no by….bullies as school, that they can’t be who they are…” was the tearful dedication Gleeker Chris Colfer made while accepting his first Golden Globe for playing flamboyant high schooler Kurt on the smash FOX comedy. But Star Magazine recently caught up with a few blasts from Chris’ past, who reveal that the young actor wasn’t always such a distinguished gentleman.

Chris was just 10 when he joined the Good Company Players Theatre Group in his hometown of Fresno, California, but the pint-sized future star quickly made his presence known, say stage parents who had the displeasure of working with Chris and his mom, Karen.

“Chris likes to play the victim now, but back then he’d throw tantrums if he didn’t get certain roles,” recalls one former Good Players parent.

The tabloid snitch has an even poorer opinion of Karen Colfer: “She was a terror. She bullied people to make sure Chris was the star of every production. If he wasn’t, she’d go ballistic. They never once apologized for their bad behavior.”
