Highlight on New Movie Released DVD
It was first mentioned by the producers of “Gotham” that they were planning to introduce their version of Harley Quinn to the story in July at the summer TCA press tour. Now, with Season 3 halfway done, it might not be long before she’s introduced.
Speaking at a winter press tour event, executive producer John Stephens confirms “there has been progress” in bringing Harley into their world.
“We might see that in episode 22. We’re building that as a launching point of next year,” he says. “It’s either going to be in 401 or 322. Most likely it’ll be in 322 to tease.”

What’s unclear is whether or not she’ll be tied to Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) — the closest “Gotham” has come to having its version of the Joker. The character will be returning for a three episode arc beginning Jan. 16 and could certainly return for the finale.
Regardless, introducing a Harley-like character is a big step for “Gotham,” which is already loaded with excellent female villains. From Barbara (Erin Richards) and Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) to Ivy (Maggie Geha) and Selina (Camren Bicondova), who have yet to go full-blown bad, Harley would be in good company with the butt-kicking ladies of the show. But she also brings a lot of name value herself, especially in the wake of the release of “Suicide Squad,” with Margot Robbie in the role.
As for who will play Harley on “Gotham,” there’s no word from the show yet and it’s entirely possible they have yet to cast the role. Interestingly though, “Tank Girl” star Lori Petty appeared in Season 2 as a character named Jeri that clearly took after the Cupid of Crime.

At the time Petty explained, “It was Harley Quinn and this little splash of the Joker that inspired it.” However, to her knowledge she didn’t have a relation to either character.
Has that changed? Clearly the only way to find out is to watch “Gotham,” Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
