Highlight on New Movie Released DVD
It’s happening slowly, but Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is heading down a dangerous path on “Arrow” as she takes a head-first dive into the world of hacktivism and the Helix group. What will it mean for her in the end, though?

According to executive producer Wendy Mericle, this darker turn for Felicity will help her “understand Oliver (Stephen Amell) in a more profound way.” While a deeper understanding of Oliver would be a very good thing for Felicity — as both Team Arrow’s point person and one of his closest confidantes — we’re hoping that understanding doesn’t send her down quite as deep a hole as the Green Arrow. After all, viewers still need Felicity to be the light in the darkness — given Oliver’s penchant for killing, we definitely don’t want to see that in her.

As Mericle explains though, this conflict has been a long time coming for Felicity. “We really started the season wanting to have her go through some version of her own island in some way,” she says. “I would say it’s going to get very interesting — and the team, they’re definitely going to have very strong opinions about it.”
Giving Felicity her own version of Oliver’s island is a scary prospect to think about, for the rest of Season 5 — especially with the caveat that the team may not be happy about the road she’s on. While we don’t doubt she’ll end up stronger and more fierce than ever, viewers have seen how she beats herself up — for example, over the Havenrock incident in Season 4.
At the end of this road, how will Felicity end up feeling about the person she becomes?
“Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
