She’s coming back … “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” Season 2 has a return date for this summer — Mama June and her brood will be back on our televisions starting on Wednesday, July 17 at 9pm on TLC.
Although the series has been seen throughout the year, thanks to a series of “Honey Boo Boo” holiday specials, this will mark the true return of the redneck-celebrating show. TLC promises “a candid look inside their unapologetically loud and unique lives in McIntyre, GA.” Activities set to be enjoyed by the clan include butter rolling, tap dancing and wrestling.
No, we don’t know what butter rolling is either.
It’s also likely that Season 2 will feature the wedding of “Mama June” Shannon to Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, the oft-laconic father of young Alana (aka, Honey Boo Boo Child). Cameras were reportedly on hand to record the event, so it will definitely pop up sooner or later.
A spinoff of TLC’s disturbingly successful “Toddlers & Tiaras,” “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” was a success for the network in its first season. An average of 2.3 million viewers tuned in weekly to catch the adventures of Honey Boo Boo, Mama June, Sugar Bear, Pumpkin (Lauryn), Chubbs (Jessica), Chickadee (Anna) and baby Kaitlyn.
Despite worries that the series would bring about the rapid decline and fall of Western Civilization, the world seems to be safe (and entertained) so far.
