Actress Jill Clayburgh died at her home in Lakeville, Conn. after a 21-year battle with chronic leukemia, The New York Times said Saturday. She was 66.

A native New Yorker, Clayburgh was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar in 1978 for An Unmarried Woman and the following year for Starting Over, co-starring Burt Reynolds. Her other film credits include Silver Streak, Semi-Tough, First Monday in October, and I’m Dancing as Fast as I Can. On the small screen, she enjoyed a recurring role on Ally McBeal as Ally’s mother and was a cast member on the defunct ABC drama Dirty Sexy Money. Clayburgh also won accolades in the small screen with her roles in Nip/Tuck, Law & Order, The Practice, among others. She was an accomplished stage actress, as well.
