Jon Cryer on Charlie Sheen’s ‘death’ in season opener of ‘Two and a Half Men’: ‘No … explosion’

Jon Cryer is bored with all of his Emmy nominations!

Not really, but the funny man from Two and a Half Men made a crack about his sixth consecutive Emmy nod on a Los Angeles TV station Tuesday by saying he’s become one of those actors who forgot about the nominations. “This year was a total surprise,” Cryer told the anchors on KTLA. “I don’t know if you heard but some weird stuff went down on this show this year.”

Speaking of which, Cryer acknowledged there are some weird stories circulating about how Charlie Sheen’s absence is addressed in the season premiere on Sept. 19, but he assures fans that it doesn’t happen as the result of some combustible catastrophe. “There is no meat explosion,” he said, in reference to one particularly strange rumor floating about the much-anticipated episode. “I don’t want Americans to be afraid of the meat. It’s not some entrée that ends disastrously. I’m not allowed to say much about it.”

Strangely, the firing of Sheen brought clarity to the cast and crew, Cryer said. “My perspective has been great through all of this. For many fans of the show, [Sheen’s departure] meant a great deal, and that’s important to us. It was an awful thing to be a part of, and I’m glad that some measure of peace has come out of all of it. I never want to go through it again.”
