ABC is plotting a TV revival of the ’70s small screen smash Charlie’s Angels — and they want English model-actress Kelly Brook for a role that could turn her into an international superstar.
Brook is being considered for a role in a television remake of the series that helped launch the careers of Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith, who starred in the original show. Charlie’s Angels followed the adventures of the three scantily-clad girls as they solved crimes for the mysterious Charlie — voiced by John Forsythe. The program’s main producers — Miles Millar and Al Gough — have worked with Brook on the longrunning CW series Smallville and believe she will be perfect to play the part of one of the glamorous private detectives.
“Al and Miles know Kelly from their time on Smallville and they think she is a star in the making,” informants with Britain’s Daily Mirror have learned.
“Rather than cast established stars, producers want to find less well-known actresses and turn them into household names – just like they did in the 1970s with Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith. Kelly fits the bill. She’s gorgeous, feisty, athletic, a good actress and – most importantly – the producers think American viewers will love her.”
Producers hope to begin contract negotiations with Brook by the start of 2011.
