Kelly McGillis, the actress who won the heart of Tom Cruise in the 1986 movie Top Gun and came out as a card-carrying member of the LGBT community two decades later, wed girlfriend of ten years, Melanie Leis, in a civil union ceremony in New Jersey last week, The New York Times has learned. McGillis — now 53 — is a self-professed “later in life lesbian,” who revealed that she is gay in an April 2009 interview with PEOPLE Magazine.
Kelly’s most recent acting creds include two episodes of the sapphic lesbian-themed Showtime drama The L Word.
