Highlight on New Movie Released DVD
Kevin Smith has super friends in the right places. Before his first episode of “Supergirl” debuts on Jan. 23, he’s sharing some exciting news with Screener:
He’s already heading back to National City for a second round.
That’s right, the “Clerks” and “Dogma” writer/director is preparing for a return to the show’s Vancouver set to helm his second episode of Season 2.

“I get to go back,” he says happily. “After Sundance — I’m going to Sundance tomorrow, and when I come back I go back up to Vancouver to do my second ‘Supergirl.’ Nobody knows that yet.”
This will be the fourth time Smith has gotten to play around in the “Arrow”-verse, after directing two acclaimed episodes of “The Flash” and the upcoming “Supergirl Lives.” He’s not letting any details about the next episode slip, though.

As for the other DC Universe shows, Smith says he’s open to working on any of them — including FOX’s “Gotham,” which is outside of the “Arrow”-verse. However, he only wants to direct at this point. That is unless he gets the go ahead to script an episode of “Arrow.”
“I would try to write an ‘Arrow’ script, particularly if I could bring in Onomatopoeia,” he says referencing the character he created for “Green Arrow” comics. “I would write and direct that episode, co-write it or whatever.” As for “The Flash” and “Supergirl,” he’s most comfortable sticking to just the director’s chair at this point.
“There’s something to those scripts that is beyond my capability,” he explains. “And I’m not saying it’s genius or it’s too beneath me or something. I just cannot do it. I marvel when they have me the script.”
“Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
